Search results are just not good...
Expected Behavior
I expected to have my bot some where towards the top of the following search results:
- application
- applications
- application bot
However, my bot is so far down in the searches its doesn't any sense.
Observed Behavior
My application bot has a super relevant short description, many votes and relevant tags. However, bots with bad reviews, almost 0 votes and less relevant descriptions than mine appear way further up the list.
Applicable Links or Attachments
I am the 10th result for the searches, which makes no sense at all.

Steps to Reproduce
- Open top.gg
- search
- application
- applications
- application bot
Web Browser and Version
Brave

This isn't just an issue with my bot, I know many people having the same problems. Search just seems to be way off at the moment...
from what I see, product name weighs over tags, as it should, since name would be the key search.
In your case, people searched for "applications", so bots with the word IN the product name would be the first ones to show, and then the tags. You cannot get a higher placement on that although you can by
- changing the name to include the keyword
- searching by tag
- search for the product name directly
This is intentional.
Some of those points are true, but the current ranking is buggy so that part is not intentional. This is being worked on

Thanks for the clarification.

- Well, changing verified bots names is unfortunately not possible, unless you are infringing on another bots name.
- I've just gone and looked, I don't see any option to
search by tag. If you simply mean by searching the name of the tag into the search bar, this is what I did in my original comment, tags aren't really enough for ranking. More things need to be considered - Topgg is meant to be for bot discovery. Searching specifically for a bots name isn't very discoverable.
Also, I don't believe having such a strong emphasis on search regarding bots names is a good way of going about it.
Why should a bot made for applications be ranked lower than another bot made for applications just because of their bot name? If they are made for the exact same purpose (determined by their description, votes, and reviews) thats what should rank them. Not the bots name its self.
But yea, glad to see that you are working on search!
