Adding/Enhancement idea
I built this and got 5 boards like many here have done. So, built 2.5 keyboards, and was wanting the use the last board as kind of a macro pad. To do this, it would be very handy to have it so you can either mount a RJ45 socket to the left side, or a rotary encoder. How hard would this be to do? Thanks again for making a wonderful product, it is amazing to type on.
Hey, thats a solid idea. Environment friendly ;)
I checked, and there should be room on top of the reversed rj45 socket:
Keeping the issue for a possible next iteration.
To add onto that, a footprint for the THQWGD001 diy 3d printed roller encoder by Taro-Hayashi could go nicely with the ec-11 footprint. Very inexpensive and nice to use.
A wheel like that might be better then a rotary encoder, at least for my usage case. It would definitely be easier for my particular case, which is to flip through different layers on the board when I am looking to play different games. A lot easier to do with one finger, as opposed to 2 fingers that is wanted for the rotary. Just a thought.
