Unfortunately it doesn't feel maintainable to support multiple types of database, but I'm glad the open nature allows for this kind of fork.

The problem is in the way that postgres _indexes_ these characters I'm afraid. I expect #5337 to be a nice workaround as it avoids the postgres index entirely
