Task count in buttons?

Is it possible to get a variable for the open task count, so we can send that information to CI when a button is pressed? I don't care about the authors or texts, I just want to know how many open tasks there are on a PR.

[I have seen https://github.com/tomasbjerre/pull-request-notifier-for-bitbucket/issues/245 but that seems to ask for a lot more, hopefully this is easier to do]
