Skype for Business integration

Open mstoops opened this issue 8 years ago • 4 comments

It would be very handy to be able to have Skype for Business able to set the Blink1 color based on the current Skype for Business' "presence" value. Not sure how possible this is in an enterprise environment.

I'm running SfB on MacOS.

Hi @mstoops, Do you know how Skype for Business is different than regular Skype? (And is it possible for an individual to get Skype for Business?)

@todbot I'm sorry I didn't see your question sooner. I'll try to track down an answer, but I think Skype for Business need to be tied to a corporate account, and therefore a corporate Exchange server. If I can find more information, I'll let you know.

@todbot @mstoops

For Skype for Business you either need your own Lync server or you can use Office 365. In the first case you need to use the Lync SDK. Probably you will need a wrapper for the .NET API of it. As far as I know, there is no Lync Client SDK working on Mac OS.

There is another way: Use the Lync Server API. But then you and the users would have to have their own Lync server. For Office 365 there is currently no Lync Server API available.
