Issue with OSX 10.10.5 Intuos GD-0912-R00 V1.2 and Prolific 2303
The issue is that the tablet wont control the mouse
The serial driver

Show model number

Shows mapping screen

Shows setup screen greyed out should be Wacom V not Wacom IV

Testing shows meaningful values

Mouse is locked to upper left corner, when moving the stylus near the tablet.
I have also built from source but it made no difference.
Sorry to have missed this report! I've updated my Github settings to send me more notifications so I see these right away.
I suggest you try using version 2.0b19 to see if it works any better. Then if that fails, try 2.0b18. There were some changes made in recent versions for newer systems, and it's possible I missed something. Older versions can be downloaded at http://www.thinkyhead.com/tabletmagic/download
If you see the same behavior, then we should see that the tablet is being detected correctly and the correct protocol is being used. I'll review the code (which I haven't looked at for awhile) to see how it handles "Wacom V" protocol versus "Wacom IV".
Thanks Scott I will give a go

After updating my Macbook Pro 2016 to MacOS 11.6 not having used for a really looooong time (...did it ever work??) my old tablets (a GD-0912-R and a GD-1218-R on a simple USB2serial-Adapter), I was really surprised (and happy!) to see my TabletMagic v2.0b20 working (quite the same way as samhodge has decribed!): the testing page giving positive results about coordinates, pressure, buttons etc. but sadly: no mouse-movement, no testing penstrokes whatsoever, no sign in a drawing app.
I'm not so bold to try to reinstall the driver or an older version of it (in fear, Big Sur wouldn't let me)... so: Is there anybody out there who got a Wacom working nowadays and who could give some advice? That'll be great and heavcily appreciated! :-)
Thanks anyway to thinkyhead for at least having tried to 'save' this peace of hardware.
@zettelberg — What kind of serial adapter are you using that works with MacOS 11.6? I can no longer find a working driver for the Keyspan USA-28X, which is required for the funky round Mac RS485 serial connector, and I can't really do a thing without a working serial connection.
As for bringing very old things up to date, that is a huge challenge, mainly because Apple has moved away from NIB files and to new file formats, XIB and storyboards, and of course there are all the API deprecations. Maybe someone with a current skillset will take up the mantle and bring the old thing back to life. I doubt I can make much headway in the limited time that I am able to devote.
