Verify link references aren't dead
If a reference-style link's reference doesn't exist (either in [link][] form or [link][reference] form), the link checker should throw an error. Similarly, it should throw an error if a link definition ([reference]: url) exists but doesn't correspond to an actual reference.
This issue has been marked as stale because it has been open 60 days with no activity. It will be closed in 30 days unless the stale label is removed or someone adds a comment.

What's the point of having an issue tracker if you're going to auto-close issues you don't triage?
