[Feature] Support for new Ring Intercom device

Open buschtoens opened this issue 3 years ago • 5 comments

Ring released a new device: the Ring Intercom.

It's wired up to the building's intercom system and mainly supports these features:

  • open the door
  • notify when the door bell is pressed
  • use the intercom's audio in a voice call

I bought one and tried to integrate it into my Home Assistant via the ring integration (ring source code), which uses this python package under the hood.

Unfortunately the Ring Intercom does not appear in the list of devices. As it's the only Ring device I own, I can't check whether it's working in general, but from the logs the authentication appears to be successful.

My theory is that the device is not showing up, because this package doesn't yet recognize this type of device.

The Ring API returns this for this device: https://gist.github.com/thraaawn/be35b891f56b7bf17205ba1b6f91303f Weird that it is categorized as 'other'.

I created a basic implementation which supports opening the door and adding and removing users in this pull request.
