Xbmc Gotham compatibility

Open jwhite opened this issue 11 years ago • 4 comments

After upgrading to Gotham alpha there are new breaking changes.

Music, if stored in tags with different cases, shows up as separate artists. For instance, I have some albums tagged "The Mighty Mighty BossTones" and others "The Mighty Mighty Bosstones".

This causes all sorts of duplicate albums in the lower case version, and the upper case version doesn't have them all. It isn't just a case where it thinks there are 2 different artists..... things break all over the place.

I have not yet tested anything with Gotham, so you are probably right about stuff not working.

I don't know if i will change much about your artist thing. I just use the xbmc api and ask 'get all artists'. So if you say the output is 2 artists that should be one, xbmc sees this as two different artists, probably due to incorrect id3 tags.

I did some other investigation and I think it might just be gotham changes exclusively. HTPC Manager looks fine. Is there a good way to wipe the database in xbmc and have it re-populate?

Check this out....

Notice that this album artist tag is "Belle and Sebastian" just like the artist below it (and it shows up correctly on the mouse over as well.)

Yet, for whatever reason it get filed as "Belle"

Ok, maybe there is a difference between the artist name and artist label in the xbmc json response. I have to verify this before i can be sure.
