Question/Feature Request - Snippet Customization
Hello,
Just wondering if there is a way to customize snippets that involve applying a static formatting template to selected text (as opposed to just creating a snippet from existing text and re-applying that same exact text elsewhere). For example, similar to what is done with the Info, Warning, Notes and Code boxes, but with some different background colors and perhaps different symbols depending on use case.
The one I have in mind currently is a "caution" box (something between "info" and "warning" in severity, with a yellow background instead of red), as I write up notes for a lot of technical processes (some of which eventually turn into "official how-to's") and having this would be very helpful.
If the customization ability noted above is not currently available and would be difficult to add, if there's any way we could add a predefined "caution" box in the meantime to the default snippets list, that would be great!
But, to support all use cases (not just my own) I think it would be even better if we could somehow add this customization ability (assuming it is not already available) to those predefined "formatted snippets". I see a similar idea was mentioned on #666 (where the idea of a {CONTENT} placeholder was brought up) but never came to fruition. It is also mentioned on that thread that this may be more complicated than it initially seems to implement, which I totally understand if that's the case.
Thanks in advance for the consideration.
Best regards
So, a "wrapper snippet"? Let me think...
Yes, exactly - a configurable wrapper snippet, or perhaps just adding the ability to customize the built-in wrapper/"box" snippets?
Because something else that came up today I realized (which is somewhat on the topic of my other post #1761 ) it might be useful to be able to customize the default width of those default box snippets. To be more similar to whatever outline width the user uses for most of their notes (as opposed to having to resize the outline to match the box every time).
This would be very useful for customizing your own snippets. I think it would be enough if we could insert a placeholder, such as {SELECTED_TEXT}, when editing the snp file, which would be replaced at use with the selected text in OneNote.
