I'm looking to start drafting an general "ML DevRoom" proposal and will post it here. One of the speakers from https://www.sourcesense.com reached out, who seems to interested in collaborating/helping with this one this year.

Hey, @creachadair @dmitryvinn @vcoisne @gomesfernanda @m09 @vmarkovtsev @mcuadros as soon as we have the deadline announced, do you want to have a quick kick-off call next week, so we can share the expectations?

Yes! A few thoughts about the plans:

Getting involved in organizing Go devroom

I guess that we should ask @campoy about his involvement this year.

Stepping up and organizing a general "Machine Learning" full day devroom

I am mentally prepared for this.

MLonCode workshop

I feel that having a full ML room and a workshop /and Go perhaps/ maybe too much for us...

Extras:

  • We should order many, many more nice t-shirts!
  • We should already start collecting the list of ML companies which produce open-source.

I vote for bringing the original idea of the LA room.

I'm planning on organizing the Go devroom, yes. I already sent a proposal.

campoy avatar Aug 19 '19 22:08 campoy

I'm happy to help support a Go devroom if that is desired/useful.

I'm also glad to work on a Source Code Analysis room, though I think probably we should limit that to at most 1/2 day. I agree also with @vmarkovtsev that we should not commit to more than we can handle.

creachadair avatar Aug 20 '19 18:08 creachadair

All that make sense to me. I've taken the liberty of sending a Calendar invitation for a kick-off meeting for this Thu 5th 16:30 GMT+2.

Draft of the ML DevRoom proposal is available. Please feel free to edit/update/add feedback. I'm planing to submit it today around 5-6pm.

@creachadair I have also update this issue description to include links to the materials from the previous years of Source Code Analysis devRoom, just in case you want to use it for inspiration.

A 1 day Machine Learning devRoom proposal has been submitted.

Thanks @bzz for the resources. I also added a draft proposal for the Source Code Analysis half-day we discussed.

Thanks @bzz for the resources. I also added a draft proposal for the Source Code Analysis half-day we discussed.

Thanks for the comments so far! If there are no more comments in the next few hours, I plan to submit the proposal this afternoon (my time) to be sure it lands before the deadline.

creachadair avatar Sep 20 '19 17:09 creachadair

The half-day Source Code Analysis proposal linked above has been submitted.

creachadair avatar Sep 20 '19 20:09 creachadair

The list of accepted DevRoom rooms has been just published.

ML DevRoom has not been accepted this year (there seems to be an NLP track again).

bzz avatar Oct 02 '19 06:10 bzz

The Source Code Analysis half-day was also not accepted this year. 😞
