Failed to install the app 'Splunk add on for linux'

i was trying to install the official app 'Splunk add on for linux' on a recent docker image and noticed that the app is unusable, it fails with the "hostname" command from the script $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/Splunk_TA_nix/cpu_metric.sh.

It seems that the "hostname" command is outdated on the image release.

Any ideas how to fix?
