.mat files from matlab are unviewable

I am working on a "translation" of some matlab programs to python, I have a legal matlab account but it's incredibly messy to be switching between that many files, directories and programs. Therefore I downloaded some extensions that allowed me to compile and open matlab code on VSCode, however the programs input are .mat files and the h5web extension is uncapable of opening those to previsualize.

Hi @Drakit0, this extension is for viewing HDF5 files, so I don't think .mat files are in scope. But maybe I'm missing something?
