Bug description

When I try to take a photo from a chat with the rear camera and the flash on, it doesn't take the photo and shows the message "Camera Unavailable". Using frontal camera works fine. If I use the camera from the main menu icon, it works fine even with flash.

Steps to reproduce

  • Open Signal
  • Enter a chat
  • Tap the camera icon
  • Turn on flash
  • Try to take the photo

Actual result: Flash turn on for several seconds and displays the message "Camera Unavailable" Expected result: Take the photo with flash

I've tested this on a Samsung on Android 13 and a Pixel on Android 14. Both on version 7.43.1 of the app. Took a photo with flash in the notes chat like your video but wasn't able to reproduce the problem on either device. Seems like it's been fixed? Can you confirm @DonChunior or OP?

I received the update from v7.41.4 to v7.42.2 today. At least with v7.42.2 I still have the known problem. As soon as version 7.43.x is released productively and I've received the update for it, I'll report again.

I received v7.43.1 on my cell phone today. Unfortunately, the aforementioned problem still exists. :unamused:

We're tracking it, but we are unable to reproduce which makes progress and a fix difficult.

Short update: Even with v7.57.2 and meanwhile Android version 15 I can still reproduce the problem.

Interesting issue — sounds like a software or hardware glitch. Try restarting your device or resetting camera settings; it usually helps. For more helpful resources and learning tips, visit education in france

I’ve faced a similar issue before — sometimes the “Camera Unavailable” error happens due to software bugs or cache conflicts, especially when the flash is enabled. Try restarting the device, clearing camera data, or checking for updates. Also, I recently came across Rankdix which shares some really useful troubleshooting and tech tips — might help if you’re looking for more detailed guides.
