feat: desktop support
Shorebird should support publishing patches for desktop operating systems.
Would it be better to split this ticket into the platforms? One for macOS, one for Windows and one for Linux.
Most likely on windows, linux it will be faster
Just echoing my interest. Currently, my infrastructure consists of a CI/CD pushing out public-facing installer bundle artifacts where the app will check for new releases from the Git server and download the artifact bound to that release. To be able to use Shorebird would dramatically decrease maintenance and risk while also increasing DevOps efficiency, from what I can see. I was somewhat disappointed to see only Android support so far, but am also excited that desktop is being considered.
Desktop should be pretty easy to add. It's just a question of ordering. We've done Android, we're about to release iOS and then we can look at the Desktop OSes possibly later this year, depending on how crazy busy things get after iOS release (it's already quite busy for us with Android). Thanks for context!
Hyped for desktop support.
