ssl v3 is being phased out in many distros' openssl packages

while building OpenSSL.p6:

Cannot locate symbol 'SSLv3_client_method' in native library 'libssl.so'

this is on debian sid (unstable). as far as I can tell, ssl v3 is being phased out
