Changing and wrong key sizes on iPad keyboards

On the iPad keyboard, keys on the keyboard have inconsistent size depending on the state of the keyboard. If the keyboard starts out in landscape, the symbol keys view are slightly thicker than the letter keys:

If the keyboard goes to portrait and returns to landscape, the symbol keys remain slimmer and leave more space between the keys. Additionally, the symbol keys look very thin and weird:

We should definitely get this figured out and make sure that it works for iPhone as well. Landscape has consistently been really weird. It's important for iPad, and for iPhone it's been an afterthought as I doubt many people type in landscape.
