Mouse lags in Diablo 1

I've installed diablo 1 in windows 98 se, in the menu of the game the mouse works great but as soon i enter the game it feels a little lagged/slow i can play like this but i wonder if there's some way to fix it, tried different cpu emulations and performance scales but doesn't help

Can you try to see if that also happens in the pre-release demo which is available here: https://archive.org/details/Diablo_1020 or is it different?

tried that but the mouse feels the same
