Unable to locate Outlook executable on your system.
It's the first time to use this app on my laptop and I met this error. I don't know how to solve this.
There's a log that should be generated in the installation folder, C:\Program Files(x86)\Outlook on the Desktop. If you could attach it, it should help me figure out what's going wrong.
The attachment is the log on my computer.

I'm unable to reproduce this so far, can any of you provide more context on your setups:
- Version of Windows (can be found with Win+R, typing winver
) - Version of Outlook (can be found by opening Outlook, File > Office Account > About Microsoft Outlook) Should look something like:
Microsoft® Outlook® for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2311 Build 16.0.17029.20028) 32-bit - When the problem started, ie. after updating OotD, after updating Microsoft Office, something else?
In the mean time, I will try creating a fresh install of windows and Office to see if I can reproduce.

- This is the first time i am trying to install Outlookonthedesktop, i have not updated windows or office in the last 6 months.
I think i figured out the issue, outlook is named olk.exe on my laptop by default. Any way to repoint to the olk.exe?
Ah! I didn't realize they now use olk.exe. I'll have to update the code to look for that. Thank you!
Ah actually olk.exe is the new Outlook for windows. Outlook on the Desktop is not compatible with that version. It only works with the standalone version installed from Office 365.

Ohh i see, thanks for the quick response. Is there any way i can use Ootd for Outlook on the Desktop ?
Same error. More information:
- The last line in the log: ERROR Unable to find Outlook exe location in registry.
- Windows version: Windows 11 24H2 (OS version, 26100.4349)
- Outlook version: 1.2025.611.400 (Production)
I'm wondering if this error is ralated with the installation path because my Outlook is in C disk while my OoTD is set up in D disk.

Hey folks, if you're seeing an error regarding olk.exe, that means you're using the "New" Outlook experience, in which they've seemingly removed the ability to use the Outlook View Control completely. Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do fix that. You're only option is to use the legacy Outlook experience, or not use OotD. Sorry 😞
