Before I start digging anyone knows if I can talk with the chip and this lib?

What is the model of the chip?

LR1121. And yes, you can, if you install the basic emulation firmware on that chip (using the methods indicated by Semtech - simplest of which is loading a binary 'sketch' into the Nucleo board that encapsulates that firmware. That firmware then emulates (pretty much) an SX128x/127x/126xchip.
