TWIR#406 `cold-iron`
From this weeks newsletter the following crate was promoted: https://static.stillinbeta.com/cold-iron/cold_iron/ under 'Miscellaneous'.
Looking at the crate, while obviously novel, I'd still have to ask what value this is supposed to hold for the average newsletter recipient? I'm curious to know if it wasn't an oversight.
Many Thanks!
Humour! I found it entertaining, anyway.
I think this diverges from the spirit of the following guideline as far as not indicating the fact that the crate cold-iron was included for wholly subjective reasons.
As the guideline asks not to include: "Links to crates or GitHub repos without some sort of context. We would much rather you submit a blog post introducing your project and how a Rust user might use it (and what it would help them do) and/or what you learned about Rust in the process of writing the project."
Speaking personally, my reading experience was enhanced by coming to it cold, without context. I'm sorry that evidently you don't feel the same way.
Anyway, I think this is a mater of taste, and probably we won't agree. So I'll shut up now and let the TWIR editors resolve this ticket as they like.
Someone might start a newsletter and call it TWIRofl which tracks everything humorous but not necessarily relevant to productive users of the language/ecosystem.
Thanks for your input here! I'm closing this due to inactivity for now, but if you have concerns in the future please do feel free to open a new issue.
