is gitter channel the right place to direct people to for discussion?

the last post to gitter channel is from 2017. Most of the content referenced in these guidelines seems to originate with Rust RFCs which references

• official Discord server
• developer discussion forum

Having recently discovered this repo, and as a relative newcomer to Rust, it would be nice to be directed to a specific channel on Discord, where it seems there are a lot of other and possibly related active Rust conversations. Though if I've misunderstood, just close this and I'll hop on gitter next time I drop by :)

Welcome to the community! We've been a bit quiet on this repo for a while, but are starting to try revive some discussion. We've enabled GitHub Discussions here, which is now the right place to go to talk about API guidelines 🙂
