OpenCPU Integration

Open karthik opened this issue 11 years ago • 6 comments

This is an item on our hackpad list. What should we do? Add to our tutorials? Add these to the html vignette pages we have planned (the three pages that will link from here:)

Page1: We need one on just the data parts. What are the most interesting things we can show people? Page 2: Working with Ramnath to get rMaps2 ready but once that's done, we can showcase that and plot.ly here. @sckott Can we work up the plot.ly bits in the meantime? Page 3: How do document and share data with EML + {rfigshare, zenodo (which I need to finish), dvn, and DataONE}. We'll need to write a lot of text as context instead of a dry user manual approach (function x does foo). Thoughts? Will need your help a good bit here, @cboettig.

My thought is that we leave tutorials alone. They are detailed manuals for how to use our packages, perhaps with some narrative. We can showcase live examples with open cpu elsewhere, like say on the 3 pages above. Just for refresher, here is the prototype page I started for dat viz.

yeah, sounds good to focus on the showcase pages

yeah, I can work on plotly bits, any other data viz bits to include? e.g., geojson to gist rendered map?

@karthik I couldn't quite get the templating to work out, started template layout in _layouts/showcase.html and header in _includes/header_showcase.html, and a folder for showcase files in showcase/

Not sure what I'm doing wrong, guessing you can spot it quickly.

I'd say don't worry about the templating for now. Let's just focus on content. We can figure this out (I'm happy to take a crack) once we have some material ready to add/review.

For now, would be great to get content and/or widgets working on a simple page (even using one of the simple whisker templates we already have).
