Add the android:requestLegacyExternalStorage="true" in AndroidMenifest.xml file . It will work.

Ran into the same issue and this setting fixed it. The line should be added to the element per example here: https://developer.android.com/training/data-storage/use-cases#opt-out-in-production-app
