MSER is not working on a new install

Downloaded latest version. When clicking on a link in Windows Update (i.e. Troubleshooting Windows Update problems). When clicking on that link, or others, it will open in Edge briefly, but close and doesn't open in Chrome..

I've uninstalled MSEdgeRedirect and redownloaded and reinstalled. Same issue.

Excuse the late reply, for some reason I glanced over this issue. Did you select Service Mode or Active Mode when you installed MSEdgeRedirect?
