I would love to use the homebrew version for an install script but don't want to pin to HEAD, and need this fix in our environment.

I'd also like to request a v1.0.1 tag if you can find the time, @sstephenson. You're probably very busy; have you considered delegating (maintenance) work for this repo to a trusty contributor?

Alternatively, a homebrew tap can be made under homebrew-head-only. That would require no involvement from Sam. What do others think of doing this as a temporary solution?

Edit: Another workaround is brew install --HEAD rbenv-default-gems
