Possible to fade out after time?

Open surfacescan opened this issue 4 years ago • 4 comments

I would like to fade the caption out after a certain amount of time. At the moment, the text stays on the screen infinitely.

Am I missing something?

Use case:

I say "Hello my friends" silent for 15 seconds caption should fade/hidden after 4 or 5 seconds "Welcome to the stream" caption should fade/hidden after 4 or 5 seconds

Any thoughts?

By default the captions should stay for 15 secs, you can adjust that time in the settings under Caption Timeout

Should work for Twitch at least on browser and mobile.

Thats awesome. I have seen the feature now - is it possible that timeout feature doesn't work for the "Open Captions --> Enable text source output" ?

What would I need to do to make the timeout apply to that as well?

That's supposed to just work with open captions too but definitely seems broken, thanks for reporting! Fix will be in the next version.

Cool!

While you are at it, you may want to check to see how the character limit works. Somehow I would expect to be able to also set "bounds" on the open captions however, it seems to just get growing as big as it wants!
