Selecting HTTP as proxy type for manual proxy settings leads to setting SOCKS5 when looking at the FF config

Manual proxies no longer work with the latest version 0.3.6 and FF 60.0.1: Setting the proxy type to HTTP leads to proxy type SOCKS5 in FF settings which is of cause not working for HTTP proxy URL.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. set up a proxy Server that is accessible via HTTP and NOT via SOCKS protocol
  2. install PROXY-SWITCHER 0.3.6 in Firefox 60.0.1
  3. configure MANUAL proxy
  4. try to access the internet behind the proxy

Works for me:

Please open the FF proxy config and then change the proxy from this extension and see what goes wrong.

In my case the SOCKS line also gets filled. I cannot post a screenshot since that would include internal network details which are not meant for the public.

apparently a new bug in Firefox!

Please follow:

  1. Open "about:config" in a browser tab
  2. Search for "network.proxy.backup" and reset all the values to the defaults
