What should we add?

As V1 primitives have been deprecated and removed, among other changes that may need addressing here as well, Qiskit Optimization no longer works with Qiskit 2.0. Updating the code here may mean only supporting Qiskit 2.0 in a version that adds this as making it backwards compatible with < 2.0 may be highly problematic - hence a breaking change.
