Add the ability to delete torrent content without deleting the torrent.

This is something I would like very much to see and I don't think it's hard to implement.

I am curious as to why someone would want this feature. For when a torrent dl gets a corrupted piece that recheck cant fix? temp free up some hdd space? I guess my slow net speed makes it illogical for me.

It would be a convenient workaround for many bugs, some of which are listed above.

Also :

  • One may mistakenly have downloaded unwanted parts.
  • Some parts may turn out useless, but only after trying them.
  • Some parts may be useless, but not be obvious before download.
  • One may want to remove partial files after a partial download.

any news on this? doing this manually suuucks

main use case: making space on disk by deleting the partial files of some manually selected torrents

I want this as well. I have a fast fiber connection and frequently download large torrents, but my SSD is not that big and I do have a bigger HDD connected, but it still fills up quite fast. With large torrents, I can for example delete files that I have no longer use for. Currently, when I do this I have to uncheck them in qBittorrent, then delete them manually and then force qBittorrent to recheck the files otherwise it will error. Just having an option to delete individual files would be great. Another torrent client I used in the past had that option in the Download Priority, in addition to the Maximum, High, Normal and Not downloaded option there was also a Delete option.

Can we get any response from the developers? It's been so long, and there is no progress.

Some of the use cases for this feature may already be covered by the Copy .torrent files to: and Copy .torrent files for finished downloads to: features in Settings -> Downloads. Specifically, if you just want to maintain a history of which torrents you added/completed, even after you delete them from the client.

If you still wish to have the torrents listed in the client after deletion of the contents, then I believe this is a duplicate of https://github.com/qbittorrent/qBittorrent/issues/11878.

This is my interpretation of the issue. Is there something you can think of that is not covered by the existing features or a duplciate of https://github.com/qbittorrent/qBittorrent/issues/11878?

What was wrong with putting files in the .unwanted folder ? I could select the files I didn't need, go into the torrent folder, and delete the .unwanted folder

That's what I do now, using an older version of qbittorent.

How is this related to the issue at hand? Discussion about the (removal of) .unwanted folder feature is done over at https://github.com/qbittorrent/qBittorrent/issues/13531.

Musaran2 had it right. Please implement something along these lines. It remains necessary!
