Changes to collection overview cannot be saved - manually or with autosave

Describe the Issue

I moved a collection from my personal workspace to my company's workspace after editing/creating a collection overview. In the new workspace, the collection was empty/had been erased.

I rewrote the overview and attempted to save frequently. However, the save button was disabled with the tooltip 'No new changes to save.' The info panel displayed the correct timestamp for Last updated at. Postman app's status was 'online' and showed a green check.

I checked our workspace in the web app, where chunks of changes would appear sporadically. I tried making edits in the web app instead, .where the same thing happened.

In VSCode extension, changes DO appear to be saving to collection overview. However, I'm unable to edit Socket collections in VSCode as they do not appear.

Steps To Reproduce

  1. Open an existing collection
  2. Edit the overview in any way
  3. Attempt to save the collection - the Save button will show "No new changes to save." If auto-save is enabled, changes will not sync to other workspaces.
  4. Last updated in the collection tab will show the timestamp of the edits, but they will not be saved.

I have also tried changing variables within the collection, which re-enables the save button. I then make changes to the collection overview and hit save. Change are not saved. I have tried in both desktop and web apps.

@abischolz Descriptions on collections get auto-saved and don't need to be saved explicitly with the 'Save' button. Is it not working for you?

Yesterday, this was not working consistently (not sure what the exact version was prior to upgrade), as not all of the changes made were saved. Once I upgraded to the latest version, this is now working in the desktop app (11.36.6). Changes persist in desktop app, but are not synced to web app. Changes made in web app to collections do not appear to be autosaving consistently.

I did notice that in VSCode extension, changes to collection overviews triggered the disabled Save button to change to Saving... while auto-saving, which helped convey this.

Really appreciate your help!! Thank you so much!

@abischolz My pleasure! Glad you got it working now. Let me know if the syncing problem persists or pops back. I'll have the team help you with it.

I agree with your concerns around the SAVE button states. It's not the best experience and can be too confusing. We're working on fixing it. Thanks for your feedback.

Update here @skatikia : While collection changes persisted while the app was open, all changes made that appeared persistent have not actually been saved.

Upon re-opening the app, all changes made today have been reverted. The same is true in the web app. Let me know if you need add'l documentation from me!

@abischolz Hmm... this feels like a bug. @codenirvana @appurva21 can you help here?

+1 Same here — the overview collection description is not being saved, but the folder description is saved normally.
