Measuring distance between splats

I want to measure distance between two splats. Any idea on how to do it in supersplat viewer?

Hello @rkakash59 , can I ask a few questions:

  • which distance are you interested in - splat center to center or something else?
  • can I ask what you're using this for?
  • is it always two individual splats you're interested in, or something more than two?

Thanks!

@rkakash59 - please respond to @slimbuck regarding his questions, or we may have to close the issue.

@slimbuck sorry I could not respond earlier.

  1. Yes, between splat centers.
  2. It is for indoor scene reconstruction using Gaussian splatting, then measuring length of walls and other general measurement hard to access physically.
  3. It is distance between two splats at a time.

I just want to be able to measure dimensions in my Gaussian splatting scene. So with one known physically measured value, I should be able to estimate other dimensions.

Might be nice to have ability for measuring tool to snap to axis. I think I used a program where you could press arrow key for that.

Unfortunately you work with overloaded terms like "splats" one person calls a single point a splat the other refers to an entire object as a splat. @slimbuck was referring to the entire object as splat (because supersplat can load multiple objects). @rkakash59 is referring to the individual points as splats.

@rkakash59 what you are requesting is a duplicate of this: https://github.com/playcanvas/supersplat/issues/35
