Outdated version of ESP8266 RTOS SDK

The version in Platform IO is outdated:

  • Latest official release 3.1.1

  • Version in Platform IO 1.5.0-beta.5

Is there any reason why ESP8266 RTOS SDK doesn't get an updated version?

After a year, is still an issue. ESP8266 support is nearly unusable now. A simple manual update is not working, as the file structure changed.
