More information about Personas and users

@shubhaat gave me this feedback about onboarding week that I think is worth discussing:

I was reflecting on what would be useful to me and maybe other new recruits in CF to orient themselves better to what a CF deployment looks like for customers...

One thought was to include an example of a typical CF deployment or a few CF deployment topologies to understand the larger picture of how customer deployments look like. I wonder if this could be included in the one week onboarding you run for engineers, PM's and others...

Having a 1 hour discussion on this for folks to ask questions would be useful during the onboarding week.

I am not talking about CF technical architecture so much but what a typical CF customer deployment (maybe which persona is involved in setting up and using what) looks like in terms of configuration and maybe touching on Small Footprint and a scaled up deployment. It's more big picture than details. I think this can actually be documented and shared out before and having an hour long discussion or q/a would be great.

For instance an operator would use bbl to configure the IaaS and a app developer would do a cf push app. I can see this being pretty useful for design and PM, and a good way for engineers to step back and see how the product is used and by whom.

We actually do cover most of the important user workflows, but it sounds like we're not doing a great job articulating how the onboarding stories relate to a persona or their goals.

Some parameters we might consider for this:

  1. Why did an operator choose their IaaS?
  2. Why did they choose a specific deployment topology? Databases/blobstores? Large or small deployments? Different of colocation? Why would somebody a small-footprint deployment?
  3. What kind of security consideration do different operators need to make?
