Enviro grow not functional while plugged into usb power?

It has no problems running on battery but as it is going to be sitting on my desk near lots of power, I don't see any reason to run it off of battery. I see in the log it does it's thing and takes a reading on boot if needed but then it says it's setting the alarm clock based on my config to wake up... but watching the log it never does anything again no matter how much time passes. This is on v0.0.9.

In addition, while plugged into usb power the pump timer doesn't function so the pump runs forever.
