Should perl.com/index.xml be deprecated, or maybe redirect?

I'm not sure if perl.com used to link to /index.xml at one point, but somehow that's what I had subscribed to, until recently I noticed that wasn't very useful, because the main action is at /article/index.xml. Maybe the former should be removed? If not, there are a number of <item>s with date issues:

I see this is probably generated for both locations (and others?) by the same file, https://github.com/tpf/perldotcom/blob/master/layouts/_default/rss.xml

I see this issue, but there are several things ahead of it that we're focussing on right now. I'm not against removing the top level index.xml, but we also need to look at traffic to see how it's being used.
