Proposal: Connect via https:// by default if no protocol was typed in. security-indicators-3

People don't notice the absence of security indicators. So ideally we would:

  • add a negative indicator for http.
  • leave http:// in the url bar, and possibly make it a color that stands out
  • have no indicator for https (remove the lock)
  • remove https:// from the url bar. If the site doesn't have a scheme listed, the user can assume its secure.
