I noticed my MBP heating up a bit and was wondering what I was doing... nothing special. My battery was dying pretty fast also after starting to use Spark Dev. Checking the Activity Monitor, this was the view:

I was not using the serial terminal built into Spark Dev, but was using serial terminal through screen /dev/cu.usbNNNNN in Terminal, after doing some DFU programming. When taking this screenshot, the app was just sitting idle, no errors.

Compare that to chrome, which has 20+ tabs open, including 3 gmail tabs.
