Describe the feature

Logs and spans are noisy and inconsistent, making debugging and onboarding hard. Bugs require adding ad hoc instrumentation to reproduce.

Proposed solution

Introduce structured logging and proper tracing spans across the engine. Ensure new payloads can be traced end-to-end through the system. Improve logging & tracing which includes supporting otlp as a cli flag & existing logs & traces.
