Scrollbar remains when console window is cleared.

Open spamalot opened this issue 12 years ago • 3 comments

When running clear in finalterm, the console is cleared and the scrollbar jumps back to the top (as expected). However, the scrollbar remains the same size and serves no purpose.

Either:

  • the current prompt line should be moved to the top of the window, with the previous content still before it, or
  • the scrollbar should reset its size properly.

There is more to this than may meet the eye, as the xterm specification (http://invisible-island.net/xterm/ctlseqs/ctlseqs.html) does not provide for complete deleting of lines.

GNOME Terminal gets this right though. We can probably find a hack that makes it work as expected.

Looks like the folding markers aren't removed either.

The folding markers are an even more difficult issue I'm afraid. It is tempting to clear the markers when a line is cleared, but unfortunately this leads to the first command line not being recognized properly because bash writes the command prompt twice, clearing it once in the process...

Those are just some of the oddities I'm currently working on :)
