Rework user interface

There's a room for improvement.

Some possible improvements:

  • Switch programs via a list or arrows, add a dialog with folders and categories to load/save banks/programs.
  • Draw envelope curves
  • Modulation matrix: connect values with lines to form circuit (FM8 style)
  • Add a midi keyboard (yes, very please)
  • Make UI less ugly (not a UX issue, but still)

Look at Helm and Dexed (both are free software) to see how a good UI can look like.

I am with you - lot of space for improvements. The Project looks dead :-(

Harald, the project is not dead. It is just stable. There is many many people using it. There are infinite possible improvements. I know a lot of them, but aggressive changes can transform it in another software, breaking all DAW projects saved with the current version. You are welcome to contribute with patches.

Hello Daniel, I am very sorry for my wrong statement. Congratulations to your excellent work. There was no answer to the above comment since over a year and I saw no activity around the project - no discussions. Maybe a fork to "V2" is a way to have a stable system and improvements in an unstable brunch.

Also, consider HiDP screens, viewing this interface is impossible at 4K

I like the UI appearance, it looks clean. The only problem I see it everything are very tiny on it, even on non 4K screen. Having it x 1.5 would be great

Agreed! Scaling between 100% and 300% would be very useful! :)

@Audiojunkie

while not ideal, I've just tried to make a version which double the UI size. There are still a few glitches (LCD & mod matrix letters) but it looks functional: https://github.com/farvardin/oxefmsynth

It's a bit too big this way, but it fits a 1280x1024 screen at least

damn, I've just seen this PR which hadn't been integrated :(

https://github.com/oxesoft/oxefmsynth/pull/28/commits

Anyway, I won't need to have the GUI at x3 size, x2 is enough...

Since it's quite tricky to compile it (the VST 2.4 is no longer legally available from steinberg), I've put a version there:
