Kubernetes Deployment for Oracle RAC
Wanted to know whether it is possible to have the Oracle RAC - on Kubernetes being deployed.
#1042
As per the above issue I only find the helm-charts for Oracle DB SingleInstance but for RAC it is not present. Can someone provide whether it is worked upon or it is not possible to have Oracle RAC deployed on Kubernetes.
@Anand0583,
We are working on it and Oracle RAC on Kubernetes limited support is planned for this calendar year. Please elaborate on your use case for RAC on K8s and RAC on Docker.
We are currently looking at this from a experimental purpose to see whether we will be able to spin off RAC clusters on K8S for Lower Environment Support (DEV & Test). So as to enable multiple teams to create there own DB and maintain the Data on there own.
Can you please let us know what you mean by Limited Support and also can you provide a tentative timeline. Lastly will this deployment also be supported on K8S provided by Cloud providers.
@Anand0583 ,
As of today, if you want to run RAC on Docker on multiple docker hosts, you can use MACVLAN or IPVLAN. We are working on RAC on K8s and Oracle RAC on Kubernetes limited support is planned for this calendar year. We will keep you posted when RAC on K8s is ready to be consumed.
However, if you have further question For RAC on K8s or RAC on Docker, please file Oracle SR and connect with me. Let me understand your use case and I can assist you in implementing the solution in your env.
@psaini79 I also need Oracle RAC on Kubernetes support at the moment, because I plan to migrate all applications to Kubernetes. Please let me know when you are ready.
I also need Oracle RAC on Kubernetes. The reason: need to spin off instances of oracle rac (on kubernetes would be more direct than what is in the oracle rac on docker docs) so product can be tested against oracle rac.
Hi, any update on Oracle RAC on kubernetes?
Hi, any chance of getting an update on the status of the project? Have the same requirements has @myluco
@reisor, Do you have Oracle MOS account? If yes, can we connect through Oracle MOS SR and discuss your requirements in details?
