Additional context After preceding drama, Wireguard re-entered FreeBSD 13.2
Environment . . . OPNsense BE 23.10.3-amd64 . . . FreeBSD 13.2-RELEASE-p7
The underlying system already contains wireguard kernel elements, /usr/bin/wg included. I could not find any corresponding rc.d script.
The plugins os-wireguard and os-wireguard-go are misleading; only after installation, the user is advised that they are no longer adequate.
In the documentation, "Virtual Private Networking -> Wireguard -> Examples", [ https://docs.opnsense.org/manual/how-tos/wireguard-s2s.html ] still recommends
Step 1 - Installation
Install the os-wireguard plugin in System ‣ Firmware ‣ Plugins,
refresh the GUI and you will soon find VPN ‣ WireGuard.
OPNsense 24.4.2-amd64 BE does contain a 'VPN' submenu again. (Not tested yet.) Thanks!
