❓ [ QUESTION ] Quik Branding
How is the name of the app capitalized?
Are there any branding guidelines you have in mind, such as colors or fonts? (Please keep in mind that some fonts have restrictive licenses attached. Others are public domain, and still others have CC licenses.)
I think I can draw up some graphics in Inkscape, but I really need some sort of direction to work in. I don't think this needs to be agonized over, as anything I make is going to be basically thrown together. If needed, you can get some professional stuff made later.
I'm unsure on quik's capitalization, tbh. i know there's an app by gopro that is also called quik, so gotta keep that in mind.
I do know that a Q/q can be stylized to look like a sent message bubble, and I believe that was the direction I was going towards. let me dig through my docs and see if I can find the initial icon sketches.
This was the lo-fi sketch as far as art direction.
Oh, are you looking to rebrand the app ? name, logo, look and feel, all three ?
Intersting sketch ! I feel it may look a bit too aggressive and industrial ? maybe the "metal pane" grey that gives off this impression. The rest of the app's UI is quite soft-looking so this feels a bit off for an app.that aims to be easy to use.
agreed, now I look at it again. I'm open to any ideas!
Hi, if you want to build a project you can let the nice and basic logo, if you want to create a product you should ask a designer and not developers! 😅
Some of us might not be developers ;) and you're never safe from a good idea, developer or not ! Still, i somewhat agree with your comment ! In fact there is a community of designers at Open Source Design who get together to help opensource projects get a good visual thing going on 👍 if @octoshrimpy feels this is relevant, we could ask for some help there.

Agreed on letting designers do their mojo. @Cwpute do you know how to best go about this?
Not at all. I might find some time to research that at the end of the week, but don't quote me on that. Also this process might take some time: between accepting the project, then finding a designer, then letting them do their stuff… idk. Would you like it to be sorted soon(ish) or would rather we take our time ?
We'll probably have to pinpoint our needs, what exactly we want help with, so this might be a good start.
As long as the app continues to function for everyone using it, I have no rush. I understand (and thank you all for also understanding) that FOSS takes time. 💜
