Open Noopss opened this issue 1 year ago • 5 comments

Describe the bug When I want to take à quick photo of something, while I'm in a chat with someone, QUIK is saying that "No app can do this action". If i reinstall the stock camera app that is on my phone, it works.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Install Google Camera, and deactivate/uninstall the stock camera.
  2. Open a chat with someone.
  3. Tap on the "+" button, bottom left corner of the screen
  4. Tap on "Take a photo"

Expected behavior The camera app open and let me take a photo.

Smartphone (please complete the following information):

  • Device: Pixel 8a
  • OS: Android 14, Custom ROM = CalyxOS 5.7.1
  • App Version : 4.0.7

I have the same issue on my Pixel 7. I disabled the stock camera app and QUIK then basically says there's no camera.

I believe I've ran into this myself once or twice. Definitely sounds like deprecation of something in codebase. Will take a look soon-ish.

@octoshrimpy I think this happens because in the cameraIntent you first check for storage permission (WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE) which has been deprecated since Android 12 and doesn't do anything now. When removing this check it works as expected.
