Indicate monster awareness levels visually

Open MicroChasm opened this issue 5 years ago • 5 comments

The player should be able to see at a glance if a monster is aware of them or not. I'm not sure if this should be always visible, like the directional arrow, or only visible in the "info-mode" by pressing space.

Ideally in the future, the player should be able to see if the monster is idle, unaware, or aware.

The only way to tell right now is by mousing over the monster. It does seem like some visual indicator would be good, but I can't think of a good one yet.

One fix is to darken the tile of unaware enemies.

Ah, nice. That is a simple thing to do.

Just to make sure- you mean to darken the color of the enemy, not the full tile, right? If the full tile is darker, it might make it hard to tell what it out of the FOV, and what is just an unaware enemy.

I was looking at doing this, but the tiles currently can be fairly dark and it there isn't much room to make things darker.

I played around with making tiles brown, but maybe we should get them to match the unity game a bit, like to come up with some light grays that can be darkened easily.

We probably should revisit this idea. The best thing that I can come up with now is to have the golems lights be dull if they cannot see you, and be bright if they can.
