Bug Report

I'm a blind user using NVDA screen reader on Windows 11. The GPT4All desktop app (v3.10.0) has serious accessibility issues that make it nearly impossible to use independently with screen readers.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open GPT4All v3.10.0 on Windows 11 with NVDA or Narrator enabled.
  2. Try navigating the UI with Tab or Arrow keys.
  3. Observe that buttons (e.g., Download), tabs, and left-side menu items are not announced or accessible.
  4. The chat response area is also not easily reachable or read line-by-line by NVDA.

Expected Behavior

  • All buttons and UI elements should be labeled and accessible to screen readers.
  • Focus indicators should be visible and announced.
  • Tab and arrow key navigation should work for menus and model sections.
  • Chat responses should be easily reviewable with screen readers.

Your Environment

  • GPT4All version: 3.10.0
  • Operating System: Windows 11
  • Screen reader: NVDA (latest version), also tested with Narrator
  • Chat model used: LLaMA 3 8B Instruct (planned download)

Additional Notes

This issue limits access for blind and visually impaired developers and users. I’m happy to assist with further testing or provide logs if needed. Please prioritize accessibility improvements to help make GPT4All inclusive for everyone!
