Background color of canvas

I would really like to be able to change the grey background of the canvas. For me it is essential to quickly visualise how the artwork looks in other backgrounds, before exporting or making a box and coloring it just to see the effect.

My suggestion is to add in 'Edit -> Preferences' a color picker representing the background.

This color also could be exported, occupying the whole canvas. In this case, it should be also available to change in 'File -> Document Properties' in a field called 'background' with a hexadecimal input #RRGGBBAA

Hi, sorry for the extremely late reply.

A background color would be super-useful. It probably should be said on a per-project basis. Currently, we have a very basic "document settings" dialog under File > Document Settings. We could add it there for now.

By the way, you can always make a Rect and use Combine to make your background.
