Feature request: Sync all my old photos
It would be great if there was an option to upload all of my photos and videos I've ever taken with my iPhone to my Nextcloud without having to select every photo manually.
The app use to do this under advanced (although it was slow and the app had to be left open) and still does if you allow it to archive everything as one single file but that seems like a terrible way to do it.
It would be nice to have that feature back, the app is very buggy and that was one of the best things about it.
How do you mean archiving everything as a single file? I don't mean files in the files app, I mean photos in my Apple Photos gallery.
The app provides the feature to automatically upload all new photos and videos, but I want to get all the old stuff down of an iPhone so I can reset it. And I wouldn't like to use iCloud. I'll have to re-check if it works transferring the photos via USB but when I tried it after the space was already not that empty on the device anymore, Linux didn't show them and (space was already very full when I tried it on Windows) Windows was terribly showing crtitical errors. And when transferring them to a USB stick via a MacBook of a friend (I don't have one myself), well it worked, but now there are new photos, I'll have to wait until I can visit him as he lives in a city quite away, and even transferring via a MacBook it gets stupid at the end and doesn't transfer some...stupid...so that transfer method'd be great
Settings > auto upload > upload the whole camera roll
It uploads everything but it does it as a single archive file, it use to queue the whole camera roll to upload individually with the option to archive as a single file.
Personally I prefer it the individual way as the archive way as a single file just makes it so i have to sync the file, download it to my laptop, extract it then upload them again from my laptop.... and i have a LOT on my phone so i really don't want to clear half my storage just to fight with nextcloud to get it to work.
Its easier just to use another software to sync your phone to laptop/desktop via cable then upload to nextcloud from there.
Overall its almost too buggy to even use on ios from the app sadly.
(Plus there seems to be no good way to mass add them back to camera roll once they are on nextcloud...)
I haven't experienced auto-sync to archive everything to a single file, maybe it was in the past. My problem with it is that it just uploads new photos.
The setting is there at the bottom of auto upload, in the past it would upload everything individually but the setting to upload everything as an archive is at the bottom of settings > auto upload
Interesting; maybe you have an older version or built the latest version manually?? That's what it looks like on my phone:
You have to enable auto upload before the settings for auto upload appear beneath it
You have to enable auto upload before the settings for auto upload appear beneath it
Thank you!!!
You're welcome
It looks like this issue is actually resolved since the feature is already present, right?
Hi, currently not using Nextcloud anymore but the option to upload all old photos individually, not as an archive, would be cool, of course.
